I have had a Traeger Junior Elite for 4 years. In that time I have used it < 50 times. I have replaced a fan motor, a fuse, and now I have been trying to get a thermometer replaced. First time, the service guy dropped the ball and never sent it. Second time- the thermometer got sent around to multiple post offices. Third time, never got to me- apparently they sent it to the wrong address. Fourth time- still waiting. It's been 5 weeks now, and I cannot get the part, and have no idea if the part will fix the grill. Everyone in service has been polite, but incompetent as well. I have had 2 flash fires in the grill from the auger pushing too many pellets into the hot pot, the temperature fluctuates wildly. Save yourself the frustration: avoid Traeger at all costs!

Listen guys, I know $899 is a lot of coin for a grill. But, compared to a lot of other grills in this price range on the market I feel like the Woodwind has the features, durability, and a 3 year warranty that set it above the rest. I also put a lot of stock in the customer care and service that a company offers and I feel like Camp Chef stands behind their products. I think if your budget puts the Woodwind in your price range, you’d be hard pressed to find a grill that is more reliable and versatile.
Over time, as other companies started entering the scene, the designs saw some massive improvements. Later, the firepots were brought closer to the hopper, reducing the distance the pellets had to travel to reach it. This move reduced the probability of a pellet jam. Later, more features began to be added to these grills to further improve the reliability, safety, and convenience.
Have you reviewed at all the Grilla Silverbac? If so, does it not make your list because it isn’t as good a quality as those you have picked? I mean, when I look online for reviews of those who have bought them I haven’t found anyone disappointed with theirs, but perhaps they haven’t been out as long to have a track record? I’m so confused at this point as to which to buy with PID or no PID (some say smoke does better without one), thickness of metal, etc.
I was surprised at the low amount of smoke that you see with pellet smokers. They do however still produce smoke (more so at lower temps), it is just a cleaner smoke. You wont get the billowing of smoke that you see with stick burners. Once I adjusted to it, I am able to produce the same quality of product as I can on my stick burner but with a lot less effort.

Another feature that many BBQ enthusiasts look for is a decent amount of storage space on their grill. Although the Camp Chef grill has a shelf underneath, anything placed there can be easily knocked over. If you prefer a more secure storage area with doors to keep all your tools and sauces safe and out of view, then the Z Grills Wood Pellet Grill & Smoker  is a great option. Digital Temperature Control Unit: The built-in digital unit has outstanding control of the temperature. We loved using the set and forget part of this digital controller! This smoker also came with a meat probe, this probe helped the smoker calculates whether to increase, decrease or maintain the temperature and for how long. You just need to ensure you fill the hopper and you can relax.
