The cleanout for both the pellets and ash is a huge perk to the grill.  The patented “Easy Ash Cleanout” does not require the user to take apart the grill.  Instead, they simply have to twist and dump the container.  The 18lb pellet hopper is similarly an easy cleanout.  The stainless steel also makes it easier to clean the grill because of the steel’s properties.

Due to having such features and being the best Lousiana Grills Product, the Louisiana Grills LG Pellet Grill 1100 could not escape our vigilant gaze when we did our research. However, it had some shortcomings, mainly due to its build and price that did not allow it to make it into our pellet smoker review. Regardless, we could compare it with some of our products that it had tied with. But as always, we could only choose the top 10 products for this review and this had to go. Regardless, this still is a great product, worth mentioning.
The Camp Chef Woodwind SG model has a 22 pound hopper, 811 square inches of cooking space (more than the REC TEC), a chute that allows you to easily remove your pellets from the hopper for changing flavors, and 2 full-size cooking racks. It also has a knob on the left side that allows you to pull the flame deflector out of the way so the fire can shoot up closer to the rack giving you the ability to get a little char on something. As if this is not enough, it comes standard with a propane searbox attached to the right side where you can sear steaks, burgers, chicken, whatever you like, at around 900°F.
Hi Jeff I also recently purchased the woodwind and have not been as lucky as you with performance. I was get wild temp swings +/- 40 degrees which they initially attributed to damp pellets. They sent me new ones and still the same issue. They then sent me a new burn cup as mine had a longer holder for the hot rod which was forcing pellets to the side. My temp swings are now only about 20 on both sides however I noticed the middle of the grill when measured with maverick is about 20 degrees hotter than the controller. Do you get the same temp readings?
The hopper is equipped with a drain to empty pellets if the grill will be stored for a long time or to change to a different wood. The drain chute is identical to the grease drain chute on the opposite side and one can hang a bucket on the chute to catch the pellets. The chute is opened via a pull out knob. Although there is a sliding vertical tab to hold the knob in place it cannot be effectively locked and easily popped open every time we removed the cover, sending pellets all over the deck. The problem was exacerbated by the tight fitting cover which was not designed to accommodate the large, optional Sear Box. We ended up taping the knob shut.

As you would expect from a high-end product, the SmokePro SGX has digital temperature controls. With the push of a button, the pellet grill’s automated electronic ignition lights up the burn pot. A dial allows you to adjust the temperature from 160 all the way up to 500F. Two heat probes for measuring temperature within the grill and inside your food are provided and you can monitor everything on the LED screen.
I asked for a Traeger for my Bday, but my mom-in-law got me the Smoke Pro by Camp Chef. I am so glad she bought me the "wrong" one. All my neighbors have the Traeger. This thing kicks their butts!! 1) it gets hotter. The highest setting is 400 and then there's a setting called "high". I've gotten up to 500. My buddies pellet grills will only get up to 350. Because it can go so hot, I've thrown away my grill and use the Smoke Pro from smoking AND grilling. 2)Traeger and Pit Boss have a dirty little secret. You have to use a Shop Vac to clean out the ash. Not my Smoke Pro, you pull a tab on the side and all the ash drops into a steel bucket that came with my grill. I've watched my neighbor clean his Pit Boss. What a mess! He has to take out the greasy racks, just to get to everything and then vacuum it out....seriously stupid! 3) I love the smoke stack. You can adjust the smoke with a simple twist of the chimney top. 4) LOW and HIGH smoke. Why does everyone else only have "smoke"? I want multiple settings. Cons: Don't leave this out in the rain. My pellets got wet and turned the hopper into a concrete mess. I got it cleaned out and now use a patio cover when not in use.
Pellet Pro 680 – As its name implies, this pellet offers 680 square inches of cooking space. But, this still falls short of what the Woodwind has to offer with its included sear box. That being said, Pellet Pro 680 is a serious competitor. It is packed with features such as a precise PID temperature controller, 13-14 gauge steel body, meat probes, variable temperature settings, heat deflector, drip pan and free 100lb bags of pellets.
Like any other ideal pellet grill and smoker, this one has a smart easy cleanout design which allows the grease and oil that drip from the meat to drain outside the system into a bucket. You can easily clean this bucket within a minute. If you were worried about cleaning and maintaining your smoker grill, this feature should bring a smile on your face.
