The Camp Chef PG24S uses three cleanup and maintenance systems. The Ash Cup Clean Out System collects leftover ash in a cup for easy cleanup. The Grease Management System instantly drains grease into a bucket for easy disposal. Finally, the Pellet Purge System helps you clean out pellets from your auger with ease. Cleaning up has never been so easy.

Wood pellet grill is a two-in-one mixture of a smoker and a grill. It doesn’t provide direct flame for your steaks or meat as a grill would which eliminates flare-ups. Since there’s no direct flame, searing meat isn’t an option and there’s a better choice if this is your desire. However, if you desire a great smoky flavor with an easy cooking process then a pellet smoker is an excellent choice.
Now comes the best part about pellet smokers: they can conveniently do all these three. Coming with a large cooking space and a lid, the top rated pellet smokers would allow you to keep them open or closed, depending on what results you are looking for. With a dedicated space for putting your charcoal, you can use it as a charcoal grill, smoker or a barbecue. Or you can use it like a kitchen oven using the direct fire from the firepot. Finally, it does what it was made for – pellet smoking. Using small hardwood pellets running over the firepot in a corner, this smoker uses a fan to distribute the heat and smoke throughout the grilling area. This indirect heat ensures that the food is slow-cooked and smoked over long periods of time.
If you’ve ever wanted an 8 in 1 wood pellet grill that you can just “set and forget”, then this grill makes a perfect unit for you. It was the best smoker we’ve used in terms of hassle-free use which is why it had to be one of our top picks. Digitally-controlled, this smoker ignites the unit and uses a Smart Smoke Technology™ to heat it up from 160 to 450 degrees F. This pellet smoker comes with 513 square inch grilling area, plus a 2nd cooking rack! While it doesn’t have any auto/one-touch cleanup system, its auto-shutdown feature makes it worth the value.
The Z Grills Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker comes with Smart Smoke Technology, which lets you set and forget your grilling. It accurately sets and maintains the desired temperature using an automated electric feed system, heating your unit from 180 degrees F to 450 degrees F. We’ve gotten used to smokers taking around 30-40 minutes to heat up, but with this unit, it took only 20 minutes for the temperature to settle in!
Sick and tired of bad BBQ? Well, so are your friends, neighbors, and family members. With the Woodwind SG wood fire pellet grill, put the bland chicken and burnt steak behind you, and become the grill master you were born to be. With digital temperature control, the Woodwind does all the work for you. All you have to do is turn it on, set the temperature, and let it work while you play—no more babysitting.
This unit will not let even a single pellet go to waste. No need of worrying whether you’re out of pellets or not. You can carry pellets at a maximum of 20 pounds, with the digital thermostat ensuring the pellets are being used properly. This saves you loads of cash and gives you smoking food simultaneously without wasting time in refilling pellets.
Consistency is the key to having the best results. If you want to make a tender brisket, your cooking temperature should be close to 250 F during the entire 12-hour cooking period. The control board is responsible for precision. There are three types of controllers – PID multi-position, non-PID one-touch, and 3-position. Check out the different types of controllers for the one that is right for you.
Packaging is excellent with all parts held firmly in molded foam inserts. It comes almost fully assembled. All you need to do is attach the legs, side shelf, chimney and lid handle - no wiring required. MSRP is $700, but it's being offered by a variety of merchants for $600 and even less, which makes this a best buy for folks thinking about taking the plunge into pellet smoking. Check out the deals in our Where to Buy section below.
This grill is not ideal for everyone, but it’s close for me. It’s my favorite grill of all the grills I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned a lot of grills from a lot of manufacturers. I wish it had WiFi connectivity. I’m not one who wants to be able to turn the cooker off and on with my phone, which means a hacker could do that too. I would just like to be able to monitor the temp from inside as well as set a threshold so the unit alerts me when my meat hits that temp.
This is the best part of the SmokePro LUX especially since you will use roughly the same amount of pellets in a single cooking session that you would with much smaller models like the SmokePro SE and STX. Except this larger model is just better given the increased amount of food you get out of it. Like all Camp Chef pellet grills, this LUX version uses an automated auger and fan to deliver just the right amount of fuel and oxygen to ensure pellets do not burn out too fast.
Most old-timers will tell you that a buildup of soot and grease will improve the taste of your food. This does not prove true, in fact, it’s not good for you and can even be dangerous. At Grills Forever we want your grilling experience to be the best and safe. Therefore, before any cooking session, always clean your grill to optimize its performance and prevent any off-flavors. Check the grease pans or collectors before smoking because the collector could be full and overflow, starting a fire. If there is a grease chute then clean it for sure.

The final quality that pushed this grill from “another pellet grill” to the premier grill on my patio is the overall size and stature of the grill itself. These legs are like tree trunks. Thick, sturdy, and built to last. Just ask my husband, Todd. He was wheeling the grill around a corner for me and accidentally set one of the legs down on his toe. Whoops! His toe is fine, but he had many choice words to say about those thick legs. Haha.
Traeger BBQ 155.01 Tailgater – While portable pellet grills from Camp Chef’s SmokePro line come on wheels, this Traeger model is even more convenient with its folding legs and compact size that fits in the back of a trunk. You can travel with it easily as it only weighs about 61 lbs. However, it a much smaller unit with only 305 sq. inches of grilling surface area and has fewer features compared to the SmokePro SGX.

Pellet Pro 680 – As its name implies, this pellet offers 680 square inches of cooking space. But, this still falls short of what the Woodwind has to offer with its included sear box. That being said, Pellet Pro 680 is a serious competitor. It is packed with features such as a precise PID temperature controller, 13-14 gauge steel body, meat probes, variable temperature settings, heat deflector, drip pan and free 100lb bags of pellets.
The Woodwind legacy lives and everyone knows that a classic never really dies. That's why Camp Chef rereleased their first Woodwind model with Sear Box as the Woodwind Classic with Sear Box. With digital temperature control, the Woodwind does all the work for you. All you have to do is turn it on, set the temperature, and let it work while you play.
Ever wanted to arrange your BBQ party at a friend’s place, but couldn’t? Well, Traeger BBQ 155.01 Bronze Tailgater Pellet Grill w/EZ-Fold Legs& Digit Thermostat makes your dreams come true. The manufacturers of this grill designed it so you can bring the party anywhere. While at the beach, tailgating or even camping you can enjoy your favorite smoked meat.
Camp Chef's Woodwind Pellet Smoker is a quality smoker and super searing grill wrapped up in one. Though often referred to as pellet grills, most are smokers with limited grilling capability at best. In 2017 Camp Chef introduced their optional LP gas Sear Box which can be added onto all of their current SmokePro Pellet Smokers. Woodwind is a package deal that comes standard with the Sear Box and sells for about $50 less than a SmokePro with the optional Sear Box. Woodwind also has heavier legs than Smoke Pro models, a lower storage shelf and a stainless steel lid and firepot. Additionally, the integrated meat probe port is located higher in the smoke chamber so the probe wire doesn't get as hot enabling it to last longer. Going forward, Camp Chef intends to make the meat probe port location and stainless steel firepots standard on all models. Otherwise Woodwind is identical to their popular Smoke Pro DLX, which we tested and awarded our AmazingRibs.com Best Value Gold Medal. Scroll down for our review of the Camp Chef SmokePro DLX.

Controlling temperature is the best way to get the desired piece of cooked meat. This smoker grill has a built-in thermostatic control and a digital thermometer, so that means you won’t have to do much guesswork during barbecue. If the sensors sense a fall in temperature, more wood pellets are added to the burner, which allows you to place the meat on grill and relax.

Novices: Do you consider yourself a novice with a smoker grill? If so have no shame, in fact, look at me, I started as a novice too! Realistically, no one becomes a geek in 2 weeks of studying or research. So as a beginner you must look for an easy to use smoker grill. Well, the primary concept of a pellet smoker lies in its easy to use features. Set it and forget represents the motto and the main aspect you crave, right?
So, when their patent expired in 2006, large companies capitalized on that one and Traeger began facing cut-throat competitions. Within two years, a few companies had already begun producing some of the best pellet grills with more advanced designs and features. By 2014, around 27 companies had already penetrated the market and newer brands were coming out almost every month. Now, with so many companies already in the market, some of them are creating strategic alliances with other brands producing different grilling equipment.

The Traeger Pellet Grill BBQ155.01 19.5K BTU Pellet Grill is one of the most trusted pellet smoker grill available in the market, and you can pick this one if you are looking for a large wood-pellet grill. It has dimensions of 44” x 19”, which come together to give you a cooking area of 836 square inches. This area is sufficient for holding 16 rib racks, 40 burgers or 12 chickens at once without any difficulty! The Trager Pellet Grill comes with an electronic auto-start feature, which runs on regular 110V AC household current. The users only need to press a switch to ignite the grill.
REC TEC RT-680 Wood Pellet Grill – There are a lot of similarities between the SmokePro SGX and this REC TEC pellet smoker including digital temperature controls, hooded design, rollaway wheels and variable temperature settings. The REC TEC RT-680 model boasts a massive 40lb hopper capacity, so it can cook for long hours before needing to be refueled. However, it still lacks hopper & ash clean out as well as direct flame heating that sets the SmokePro SGX ahead of the pack

Z Grills Wood Pellet Grill & Smoker: At a very similar price, the Z grill option makes for a great alternative. It’s got a 22% larger cooking area and a fully enclosed under grill storage shelf with caster wheels. It also comes with a 20 pound pellet hopper for longer cooking times. What it’s missing is an included meat probe as well as the patented ash cleanouts found on all Camp Chef Pellet Grills. It also won’t get quite as hot with a 450 degree max temperature.

At Grills Forever, we work hard to bring you the best product reviews possible through an extensive online research process. We go through countless online reviews and browse through different brands, both known and unknown. We then go through their features and the value they can provide to the users. We shortlist the top products to do physical testing and then come up with a review. We do this on a regular basis to keep our list up-to-date.
The flame broiler uses a digitally controlled burn system. Its Digital Control Center lets you set the temperature ranging from 170F to 600F with ease. The desired temperature is set and maintained through an electric auto-start and fan-forced air mechanism. These, in addition, give that flavorful smoky taste to all of your foods. The auger automatically feeds pellets into the smoker, so you can pretty much let it take care of everything.
The rest of the product we reviewed offered 6-in-1 features, but this one surprised us with its 8-in-1 cooking versatility. If an efficient smoker that can do multiple things is what you’re after, then there’s no need to look further. This could just be your top choice! The pit Boss Pellet Grill with Flame Broiler cooks almost all kinds of food with 100% genuine wood pellets. Talk about quality and quantity!
The hopper is equipped with a drain to empty pellets if the grill will be stored for a long time or to change to a different wood. The drain chute is identical to the grease drain chute on the opposite side and one can hang a bucket on the chute to catch the pellets. The chute is opened via a pull out knob. Although there is a sliding vertical tab to hold the knob in place it cannot be effectively locked and easily popped open every time we removed the cover, sending pellets all over the deck. The problem was exacerbated by the tight fitting cover which was not designed to accommodate the large, optional Sear Box. We ended up taping the knob shut.

The next part of this Camp Chef SmokerPro SE Pellet Grill and Smoker review is how easy it is to use this smoker. If you ask me, I’ll easily give it 4.5 out of 5. When I purchased this unit, I didn’t know much about smoking and I never really faced any difficulty with this smoker even during the first couple of days. It has had a huge impact on my smoking skills and now has made me a better smoker. Right from operating to cleaning, everything about this smoker is pretty straightforward and easy to understand.
