Cleaning up after grilling is every cook’s dreaded part of the process, but this pellet grill simplifies that. Its warming rack comes with a patented ash-catcher system, the Ash Can Cleanout System, that allows for an easier cleanup of the unit. Additionally, it also features a grease drip disposal system that comes with a bucket. You won’t have to waste precious time cleaning up afterward!

Yeah it seems like no one is providing any input on it…I was interested in having them review it and do a direct comparison to some of these other grills. I made the mistake of getting a Myron Mixon pitmaster Q3 at sears. It turned out to be a waste of money and the slight humidity I had caused the pellets to burst and seize up the Auger. Anyway I had narrowed my search down to a rec tech or silverback but none of the reviewers seems to be giving it any attention.
This heavy-duty top-notch grill and smoker has a total cooking area of 429 square inches, which is large enough for cooking around twenty burgers at once. If that’s not enough, it comes with a secondary rack of 144 square inches that you can use for smoking or warming. With a height of 32.5 inches, you can cook a variety of meats and foods to your heart’s desire.
Let’s talk about an inherent flaw with pellet smokers. All they do is smoke. Can’t cook burgers, brats or dogs on them, right? That’s wrong, Wrong, WRONGGGGG! Well first off, don’t cook brats over high heat. You’re better off cooking them in a smoker than a ripping hot grill, but that’s another story. But I get it with steaks and burgers and such. You can do more than smoke on this bad boy! This grill has an optional Sear Box:

An impressive share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing a little analysis on this. And he in fact bought me breakfast because I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thanks for the treat! But yeah Thanks for spending the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If possible, as you become expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more details? It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this blog post!
Have you reviewed at all the Grilla Silverbac? If so, does it not make your list because it isn’t as good a quality as those you have picked? I mean, when I look online for reviews of those who have bought them I haven’t found anyone disappointed with theirs, but perhaps they haven’t been out as long to have a track record? I’m so confused at this point as to which to buy with PID or no PID (some say smoke does better without one), thickness of metal, etc.
You also have the option of running this grill on a 12V battery or a 110V battery. This gives you a lot of options when it comes to where you can use this grill: you can plug it into the cigarette lighter of your car, you can connect it the battery in the trunk of you car or you can use a standard plug. We were also surprised to find that this smoker will not drain your car battery, so use freely!
The Woodwind Classic with Sear Box doesn’t just make grilling easier—it also makes it more delicious. Your pellet grill is fueled by premium hardwood pellets that generate heat and smoke, infusing your food with a savory wood fire taste. The included propane fueled Sear Box mounts perfectly on the side of your grill creating flawless sear marks on just about anything. And when you’re finished cooking, cleanup is a breeze with our patented Ash Cleanout system.
PG24 by Camp Chef has a weight of 124 lb with a pellet hopper that has 20-pound capacity. That’s so large, you won’t need to worry of getting more before your meal is done. This approach allows you to have the ultimate cooking experience. When the temperature drops, one wood pellet is released. This convenience can’t be found in other grill types, like gas or charcoal.
Many other features, like its automatic control and built-in meat probe have made us select this smoker as the top one in our pellet smoker review. And the most amazing fact is the price. In the price range (see the price here), we never thought that we could get all these features and benefits. We took all the top smokers into considerations like the Rec Tec smokers, but this PG24 by Camp Chef can beat all through its performance and affordability.

The grill is plated with beautiful stainless steel that gives the grill a refined and impressive look. The huge cooking area includes 570 square inches of surface area. That’s enough to hold 20 burgers or 4 rib racks! It also contains a second warming rack and bottom shelf that provides the grill stability and extra storage. This version comes with a sear box that can reach temperature of up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit, which caramelizes your food. There’s a cheaper version without a sear box that costs around $200 less if a sear box isn’t a necessity for you. Additionally, the legs are built with extreme thickness giving the grill a grounded base. The caster wheels add portability to the grill so you can find that perfect place in the backyard.

I watch the reading that the controller is giving me but I almost always have a ambient probe right where the meat is sitting so I know exactly what heat is being experienced in that location which is usually somewhere near the center of the grate and sometimes it’s a little different at first but it usually settles in pretty close to what the controller is telling me.

Apart from the primary cooking area, there is also the smoke stack at the back of the unit, which leaves the right side for working on. Thus, unlike other smokers, you have the entire grill grate to work with if you are using the Camp Chef Smoker Pro SE Grill-Smoker. It has a functional warming rack, and comes with an ash-catcher that allows for easier cleaning up of the unit. For beginners, not only is using and cleaning this smoker made easier, but a recipe book is also given with the unit to help them get started. I recommend this unit to all my friends who are just starting out or who need things as simple as possible when it comes to grilling.

It’s time for a Woodwind Pellet Grill Review! I’ve been cooking on my Woodwind for over 2 months now and thought it was time to give you guys an in-depth look at the newest pellet smoker in the Camp Chef line-up. You all know I’m proudly sponsored by Camp Chef because after using their products side by side with my other pellet grills, I knew I had found a brand I was eager to share with my readers and felt confident promoting. Camp Chef sent me the Woodwind to try out and to review and they specifically asked me to be completely honest-the good the bad, all of it. So here goes!

The Davy Crockett Pellet Grill offers open flame technology which uses infrared radiation to cook your food. The peaked lid not only allows for you to cook tall slabs of meat, but it also helps the convection process within the grill, making sure that your meat is thoroughly and evenly cooked. This top notch technology ensures that you get that consistent and authentic tasting BBQ every time you fire up the grill!

One of Camp Chef’s latest innovations, the SmokePro SG was developed based on customer feedback of previous pellet grills. As a result, it offers everything you would love in a pellet grill. From a smart smoke technology that gives you full control over cooking temperature that ranges between 160F and 500F, to Camp Chef’s very own patented ash cleanout system, this grill has it all. It is also the only other model aside from the SGX model to feature slide and grill technology.

The souped up Ortech style, notched dial controller not only provides thermostatic, set it and forget it cooking, but also has a dual LED readout that toggles between your set cooking temp and internal meat temp monitored by a stainless steel meat probe included with the unit. In addition to notched temp settings of 175F to 400F degrees, the controller has "Shutdown", "Feed", "High", "Lo Smoke", and "Hi Smoke" options. Our temperature tests indicated Lo Smoke temp is about 175 and Hi Smoke about 210. So what's the big difference between 175 and lo smoke, and 225 and hi smoke? Camp Chef says there are slight differences in the settings, mostly in the auger timing. In the 2 smoke settings the auger allows pellets to smolder more than burn.
If you want to see some reviews from other Camp Chef owners and what they are doing with their grills, you should check out the Camp Chef Smoker Smokers group on Facebook. It’s not sponsored by Camp Chef or anything, just a group of lots of happy Camp Chef owners who are nice enough to answer questions and talk BBQ. It’s a great place to see these grills in action and hear what current customers are enjoying about their grills.  If you ever have any questions for me, you can drop a comment here, on the Hey Grill, Hey FB page, or in my closed FB group for BBQ and grilling enthusiasts (just send a request and I’ll approve you!) I’m always happy to help out!
We were surprised to see that the pellet grill was WiFi-compatible. Usually, grills come with basic remotes, but this one comes with a digital WiFi controller. It allows you to control and monitor your cooking through an app on your iOS or Android phone. We found this convenient, since we didn’t have to get up to check on our grill every few minutes. This is probably why it’s one of the top pellet grills in the market.
PID Controller–PID Controllers (Proportional Integral Derivative) are devices that most of the grill manufactures don’t fully utilize yet. They can be found as a separate device attached to the grills if you’re handy enough, but all the manufacturers aren’t fully considering them yet. Using a PID controller, you can accurately maintain the temperature while cooking and ensure that the food is cooked automatically to perfection without much supervision.

Due to having such features and being the best Lousiana Grills Product, the Louisiana Grills LG Pellet Grill 1100 could not escape our vigilant gaze when we did our research. However, it had some shortcomings, mainly due to its build and price that did not allow it to make it into our pellet smoker review. Regardless, we could compare it with some of our products that it had tied with. But as always, we could only choose the top 10 products for this review and this had to go. Regardless, this still is a great product, worth mentioning.

Looking for the ultimate in pellet grilling technology? The SmokePro SG has you covered. With an incredible 811 sq. in. of grilling space, dual temperature probes, digital LED display and a massive 22 pound pellet hopper the SmokePro SG is king of the castle. Even more it’s got the unique slide and grill technology and patented ash and hopper cleanouts for a superior grilling experience.

The final quality that pushed this grill from “another pellet grill” to the premier grill on my patio is the overall size and stature of the grill itself. These legs are like tree trunks. Thick, sturdy, and built to last. Just ask my husband, Todd. He was wheeling the grill around a corner for me and accidentally set one of the legs down on his toe. Whoops! His toe is fine, but he had many choice words to say about those thick legs. Haha.
This is Camp Chef’s version of the Flame Broiler system offered on most Pit Boss pellet smokers.  Like the Pit Boss system the SG has limitations.  The area over the pirepot is small so you can only sear one or two steaks at a time.  Additionally, while having access to direct flames is an improvement the temperature does not increase considerably.
