Traeger TFB65LZBC Grills Texas Elite – Opt for this Traeger pellet smoker instead, which offers a larger grilling area of up to 646 square inches. You’ll still get digital temperature controls, electronic auto-start ignition, and caster wheels on the Traeger Texas Elite 34. However, it lacks the hopper cleanout and purge function offered in the Camp Chef Woodwind pellet grill, which means that you might have to use a vacuum cleaner to remove wood ash.
The Woodwind SG is fueled by hardwood pellets generating heat and smoke, infusing your food with a savory wood fire taste that’ll make your taste buds sing. With grill temperature settings from 160°F to 500°F, and the included Sear Box that reaches up to 900° F, you can expect perfect results, whether you’re grilling, smoking, baking, roasting, braising, barbecuing, or even searing. When you’re finished, cleanup is a breeze thanks to Camp Chef's patented ash clean-out cup system. No Camp Chef competitor has an easier ash clean-up process.
Have you reviewed at all the Grilla Silverbac? If so, does it not make your list because it isn’t as good a quality as those you have picked? I mean, when I look online for reviews of those who have bought them I haven’t found anyone disappointed with theirs, but perhaps they haven’t been out as long to have a track record? I’m so confused at this point as to which to buy with PID or no PID (some say smoke does better without one), thickness of metal, etc.

First up- the attached sear box. Two words here, for anybody who has struggled to get their pellet grills up to high temperatures for searing: GAME. CHANGER. The sear box is a propane-powered cast iron-laden work horse with massive fire power (reaches 900 degrees F, friends). This one feature sets the Woodwind above all other pellet grills on the market (in my opinion). It’s like having 2 grills in one. Just look at the ridiculously professional cross hatch grill marks I was able to achieve on these Reverse Seared Tenderloins. The versatility of having the wood fired pellet grill to add all the smoky flavor you want, and the convenience of a hot and fast sear station combined in one grill is basically a dream come true for me. I use it more than I imagined I would and I’m so glad it’s there!
YOYO Grills have a simple and innovative design. It gives you multi-fuel options to create temperature-controlled grilling possibilities. Its temperature is controlled by a LED digital system and can vary heat from 180 degrees Fahrenheit to 475 degrees Fahrenheit.  It’s also very easy to use and BBQ novices will find it very convenient. You simply get the right temperature for grilling your BBQ by making an adjustment.
Words like Grilling, Barbecuing and Smoking are often used interchangeably by us. However, when looking at them from a grill master’s point of view, there are some subtle methodological differences among these three: One is done with the lid up, BBQ is done in a closed circulation with the lid down, and smoking is a slow cooking process in a closed circulation.
Take on your next grilling or smoking session with ease with the Camp Chef SmokePro SG Pellet Grill. With the digital temperature display, simple temperature settings, and an exclusive ash clean out system, this grill will have you spending less time needing to monitor your grill and more time enjoying the outdoors and a delicious meal. This SmokePro SG is constructed of durable powder coated steel with a black finished lid and a stainless steel fire box, and it features a 429 square inch primary cooking area and a 382 square inch upper warming rack. This gives you a total of 811 square inches of cooking space, all heated by 25,000 BTUs of cooking power. With the simple temperature selection system, the grill can be set to temperatures as low as 160 degrees for smoking and up to 500 degrees for the perfect sear. The SmokePro SG also features Slide and Grill technology, which allows you to switch between direct and indirect flame cooking with just the pull of a knob. Once you have chosen your desired temperature, the digital display can be toggled between showing the grill temperature and internal food temperature, which is monitored by the included stainless steel meat probe. Smart Smoke technology keeps your Camp Chef pellet grill with 15 degrees of your selected temperature. The automatic auger dispenses pellets as needed from the high capacity hopper, which holds up to 22 pounds of pellets at once. A continuous fan insures that your grill stays evenly heated and smoky, so every bit of food is perfectly cooked. When you are done cooking, clean up is easy, thanks to the exclusive Camp Chef ash clean out system. Simply pull open the trap door with the side knob and empty the ash cup underneath the grill. This grill also features a pair of large, heavy-duty wheels for easy rolling, a pellet clean out door so you can keep your unused pellets protected and dry between uses, a powder coated steel side shelf, and a bottom utility rack.

The flame broiler uses a digitally controlled burn system. Its Digital Control Center lets you set the temperature ranging from 170F to 600F with ease. The desired temperature is set and maintained through an electric auto-start and fan-forced air mechanism. These, in addition, give that flavorful smoky taste to all of your foods. The auger automatically feeds pellets into the smoker, so you can pretty much let it take care of everything.
The Camp Chef Woodwind Pellet Grill was chosen as our second choice because it lacks some capabilities of the PG24.  The grill is rather heavy, at an overall weight of 146lbs.  The contrasts with the PG24 which is 124lbs.  The PG24 also contains a shutdown feature that gives the user more flexibility.  This allows the grill to do more of the cooking for you.  Lastly, the Woodwind pellet grill is more expensive then the PG24.  The PG24 is overall a better bang for your buck.

We at Grills Forever have used many kinds of pellet smokers in the past 4 years and come up with different strategies to find the best functioning pellet smoker. All of our reviews are so detailed because they come from the first-hand experience. After 72 hours of researching and testing numerous products, our team of outdoor cooking enthusiasts has decided to crown the PG24 by Camp Chef Pellet Smoker as the best. It emerged as the perfect choice for rookies and experts, always delivering that rich BBQ flavor and fragrance.
Its advanced cooking system comes with a “set and forget” temperature control system that is monitored using its programmable meat probe. Its flame broiler allows for direct and indirect cooking. It has an automatic start up and cool down feature and LG’s proprietary exhaust mechanism for even second tier cooking. Its adjustable temperature can be set from as low as 170 F to 600 F.

I watch the reading that the controller is giving me but I almost always have a ambient probe right where the meat is sitting so I know exactly what heat is being experienced in that location which is usually somewhere near the center of the grate and sometimes it’s a little different at first but it usually settles in pretty close to what the controller is telling me.
Now, what that means is that if you have a lower hopper capacity, your pellet smoker will run for a smaller period of time. It also depends on the cooking temperature you have selected for your cooking purposes. However, at higher temperatures, they will provide less smoke; thus would be more suitable for grilling and barbecuing, but not so much for smoking.

In a word, yes. In a second word, absolutely. For the third and forth, without hesitation. I’ve already got quite a collection of grills going on at my house, but this grill is keeping a permanent spot on my patio. There is just something about a grill that feels designed with the user in mind. The features that are included with this grill surpass any pellet grill I’ve used on the market so far. You can smoke, roast, bake, grill, and more and you can do it with the push of a button. I gotta be honest though, as a mom… those dishwasher safe grates sealed the deal. This grill has a modern heating mechanism that adds to the convenience of using it. When the igniter is turned on, it heats the pellets that feed the fire pot via the auger. This auger  creates a heat shield with the induction pan that evenly heats the surface as per the settings and ensures that the meat is thoroughly cooked. For efficient temperature management, this pellet smoker grill has a Digital Pro Controller that can be used to alter the temperature or keep it consistent while cooking as desired. The controller has a detector that keeps track of the number of pallets fed to the fire pot. There are also manual controls that can be used for setting the temperature to high, smoke and medium as desired.
As is the case with all Camp Chef pellet grills, this one has a large 18lb hopper that provides enough fuel for hours of slow cooking or days worth of grilling endeavors. While this might seem like a long time to wait around before you can try out the new pellet flavor of the month, the SmokePro LUX ensures you do not have to. A hopper cleanout is put in place to allow you to change out pellets at any given time.
It comes with plenty of new BBQ tricks that can’t be found on other grills. The developers designed it keeping the idea of functionality as well as fashion in mind. It uses wood granules purely derived from natural wood pellets as fuel. This is particularly important to give your barbecue the flavor you long for. Its grills are built using porcelain and cast iron materials, which never add undesirable flavors to your barbecue.
The Camp Chef Pellet Grill & Smoker Deluxe is one of the most-trusted products currently available on the market. I would recommend this smoker grill who wants to invest in a grill that is made of heavy duty materials that will last. It has dimensions of 19.5 x 22 inches, which give you a cooking area of 429 square inches- enough for cooking 20 burgers simultaneously. It also has a secondary rack that can be used for smoking or warming with the dimensions 6 x 24 inches or an area of 144 square inches. It uses a match-free ignition that works with electronic auto start.
When you think of a portable smoker and grill, you think about basic features. But with the Tailgater by Traeger Grills, you get more than what most portable grills have to offer. At 300 sq. in., this portable grill is enough to cook decent and succulent dishes for small groups. It can even reach to a maximum 450 degrees F, so you’re never limited when it comes to the type of meat you want to grill or smoke. We loved its EZ fold legs, which make it easier to throw into the car trunk, ready for the next adventure.
Pit Boss 71820 Wood Pellet Grill – The Pit Boss 71820 is another grill that gives the SG a run for its money. In addition to costing about $30 less, it offers 9 more inches of cooking space, has a slide plate that gives access to direct flame grilling, and can reach a high of 6000 F (1000 more than SG’s temperature range). That said, the grill does not come with the convenience of easy ash & hopper cleanouts, or the impressive 22lb hopper capacity of the SG grill.
Novices: Do you consider yourself a novice with a smoker grill? If so have no shame, in fact, look at me, I started as a novice too! Realistically, no one becomes a geek in 2 weeks of studying or research. So as a beginner you must look for an easy to use smoker grill. Well, the primary concept of a pellet smoker lies in its easy to use features. Set it and forget represents the motto and the main aspect you crave, right?

Compared to the features, Daniel Boone’s price is quite reasonable. But with brands like Camp Chef and Traeger in the market, it has been difficult for GMG to take more than one spot in our top 10 list. Regardless, this is the best product GMG has to offer, having a balance between price, cooking space and features, bringing it to our honorable mentions list.

Jeff, I have owned my Woodwind for 2 years now and love it. I had an issue with the controller that caused the auger to keep feeding pellets into the pot it caught fire once. I called customer service, they sent me a new controller- no questions asked! Phenomenal customer service! My only complaint is the fan blows so hard- there is ash everywhere.
Over time, as other companies started entering the scene, the designs saw some massive improvements. Later, the firepots were brought closer to the hopper, reducing the distance the pellets had to travel to reach it. This move reduced the probability of a pellet jam. Later, more features began to be added to these grills to further improve the reliability, safety, and convenience.
Controlling temperature is the best way to get the desired piece of cooked meat. This smoker grill has a built-in thermostatic control and a digital thermometer, so that means you won’t have to do much guesswork during barbecue. If the sensors sense a fall in temperature, more wood pellets are added to the burner, which allows you to place the meat on grill and relax.
Enjoy a tasty grilled meal most any time of the day or night with this Camp Chef Grill Light. This flexible lamp is just what you ...need for early-morning breakfast feasts or late-night cookouts. The grill lamp has five long-lasting LED lights to provide bright, clear illumination while you cook. It also has a flexible neck, so you can aim the light for greater light coverage. The adjustable clamp base allows you to attach it to most any surface, so you can place the light where you need it. The f read more
The cleanout for both the pellets and ash is a huge perk to the grill.  The patented “Easy Ash Cleanout” does not require the user to take apart the grill.  Instead, they simply have to twist and dump the container.  The 18lb pellet hopper is similarly an easy cleanout.  The stainless steel also makes it easier to clean the grill because of the steel’s properties.
Temperature range is an important factor. What you’ll need will depend on what kind of cooking you want to do. Top pellet grills can hit temperatures between 180 F to 425 F, enough for baking, smoking, roasting, and grilling. On the other hand, ioif you want to sear meat you need something that reaches the 500-550 F range. A functioning thermometer is a must. You’ll need a precise and accurate reading so you’ll know you’re cooking your meat at the right temperature.

Regarding waste disposal, at the end of your barbecue, there is always the issue of the ash which has been created by burning the wood pellets. The beauty of this Camp Chef grill is that it has a patented ash clear-out system which allows you to open the door underneath where the ash falls into a collection pot for disposal. This means you no longer have the hassle of removing grill grates and drip pans to get to the ash.

Hi Craig- Happy New Year to you as well! On the sear box, I don’t use it on any setting other than High. When I am searing I am looking for the highest temperature I can get. I’ve used a laser infrared thermometer to measure the surface heat of my sear box grates and after preheating on high it was at 900 degrees F. If I’m looking for a lower temperature, I typically just use the pellet grill side on the highest heat setting.
Regardless, it’s worth mentioning the basic types of pellets available on the market to get you started. First there are the hardwood pellets, made from the sawdust from any specific type of hardwood, such as ash, cherry, maple, etc. Then there are different organic hardwood blends: a combination of different types of wood shavings and dust, giving them a customized, special flavoring. For beginners, we’d suggest getting a premium blend, just to be on the safe side (because you can’t go wrong with these). Even then, we’d like to mention a few types of pellets commonly used for different purposes:

When it comes to cooking space, all models listed here except the SGX and XXL fall in line behind the LUX. It features a 19.5” x 34” main grilling rack, a 6”x 34” smoking rack, and an extra 16” x 12” side shelf. Combined, this adds up to a total of 875 sq. in – enough to prepare roughly 8 chicken, 20 bratwursts, 8 steaks, and 16 burgers, leaving you with 30 more square inches of grilling space to fill up.

The Camp Chef Woodwind Pellet Grill was chosen as our sixth choice because it lacked some features found in our Top 5 picks, especially when it came to cooking flexibility. While it does offer an impressive 6-in-1 cooking experience, it lacks an auto shut-off feature, which makes it less of a “set it an forget it” kind of smoker. The grill is rather heavy, at an overall weight of 146lbs. It’s also more expensive than the rest, even though it offers similar (even less) features. It’s a decent choice if flavor is the only thing you’re looking for.
The Smart Smoke technology is one of the most convenient and easy to use features on the grill. It contains a dual LED temperature readout that keeps the heat at a constant temperature. This means you have more time for socializing and can sit back and relax. The temperature ranges from 160 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The grill uses a pellet feeder system that burns slowly to add intense flavor to your food. It also uses an electric auto-start ignition that requires the grill be plugged into a standard 120v outlet.
Z Grills Wood Pellet Grill & Smoker: At a very similar price, the Z grill option makes for a great alternative. It’s got a 22% larger cooking area and a fully enclosed under grill storage shelf with caster wheels. It also comes with a 20 pound pellet hopper for longer cooking times. What it’s missing is an included meat probe as well as the patented ash cleanouts found on all Camp Chef Pellet Grills. It also won’t get quite as hot with a 450 degree max temperature.
It is possible to tune some smokers so the heat is consistent front to back and side to side but usually, there’s some differences and that’s just part of knowing your smoker. I learn my hot spots and I just use that to decide meat placement. You will find this to be the case even in your kitchen oven. It’s rarely right on target and the temperatures fluctuate from rack to rack and in different locations on each rack.
As with all Camp Chef pellet grills, the XXL uses the patented Smart Smoke Technology to control and maintain heat output. At the push of a button, the automatic ignition will light up the burner pot but you must first fill the hopper with fuel in order to get a fire going. The temperature dial starts from as low as 150F to a high of 350F, plus you can opt for the Lo Smoke and Hi Smoke presets that automatically choose the grilling temperature for you.
The versatility of the grill allows you to prepare all of your favorite dishes to your specifications. The hardwood pellets bring out natural and juicy flavors of your food. Additionally, the grill uses convection heating that circulates the burning pellets throughout the grill. The combination of these techniques draws out the best flavors and gives your meat the perfect cook.
The chimney and chimney cap are bolted in position at the rear of the grill, although it should be noted that the height of the cap should be adjusted depending on the season. In summer the gap should be 1-1.5 inches and during winter months it should only be 1/2 inch. This helps control the heat within the grill when the lid is closed and keeps the wind from getting in and lowering temperatures.
Apart from the primary cooking area, there is also the smoke stack at the back of the unit, which leaves the right side for working on. Thus, unlike other smokers, you have the entire grill grate to work with if you are using the Camp Chef Smoker Pro SE Grill-Smoker. It has a functional warming rack, and comes with an ash-catcher that allows for easier cleaning up of the unit. For beginners, not only is using and cleaning this smoker made easier, but a recipe book is also given with the unit to help them get started. I recommend this unit to all my friends who are just starting out or who need things as simple as possible when it comes to grilling.
It features tons of built-in features, designed to facilitate the cooking process. The price on Amazon is much higher than the other smokers of similar types, but Camp Chef PG24 is a high-quality pellet smoker for cooks who are serious about getting the real taste of barbecues from their smoker grills. It is worth every penny. Let’s look at its amazing features.
So, that’s it folks! I tried to provide you all the information I could with my Camp Chef SmokerPro SE Pellet Grill and Smoker review. Now it’s up to you to make the final decision. If you are someone who focuses on quality instead of the cost of the product, you are sure to love this product.
