Food not cooking evenly or at desired times: It’s worth checking out the health of the fans in your pellet grill. Usually, if the fan is unable to distribute the heat properly throughout the whole smoker, these problems occur. Fans are relatively inexpensive and very easy to replace. Even if you see the fan working and still getting these problems, it might be that the fan is working intermittently or at slower speeds that it needs to. Have it replaced: it would be the best course of action and won’t be heavy on your wallet.
Packaging is excellent with all parts held firmly in molded foam inserts. It comes almost fully assembled. All you need to do is attach the legs, side shelf, chimney and lid handle - no wiring required. MSRP is $700, but it's being offered by a variety of merchants for $600 and even less, which makes this a best buy for folks thinking about taking the plunge into pellet smoking. Check out the deals in our Where to Buy section below.

This heavy-duty top-notch grill and smoker has a total cooking area of 429 square inches, which is large enough for cooking around twenty burgers at once. If that’s not enough, it comes with a secondary rack of 144 square inches that you can use for smoking or warming. With a height of 32.5 inches, you can cook a variety of meats and foods to your heart’s desire.

Digital Temperature Control Unit: The built-in digital unit has outstanding control of the temperature. We loved using the set and forget part of this digital controller! This smoker also came with a meat probe, this probe helped the smoker calculates whether to increase, decrease or maintain the temperature and for how long. You just need to ensure you fill the hopper and you can relax.

PG24 by Camp Chef Pellet Grill also brings along a digital controller which you could use to set your desired temperature and at one point the heat in the chamber will be automatically adjusted. It allows meat to be smoked for hours at a temperature of 150 degrees F. You could increase temperature to 500 degrees F for searing and grilling. With convection, the cold and hot areas of the grill can be replaced with even heat.

Although pellet smokers already have their own custom-made wood pellets with different flavor and blends, if you choose to moonlight your smoker as a charcoal smoker for some reason (maybe for a different experience or a cooking experiment), you can use it as a regular smoker using wood chips. Under such circumstances, it’s going to be worth learning a bit about the types of wood chips out there.

This is Camp Chef’s version of the Flame Broiler system offered on most Pit Boss pellet smokers.  Like the Pit Boss system the SG has limitations.  The area over the pirepot is small so you can only sear one or two steaks at a time.  Additionally, while having access to direct flames is an improvement the temperature does not increase considerably.
Wi-Fi enabled! With the download of an app, you can connect your iPhone or Android device to this little beast via Wi-Fi and control you cooking experience! However, the manufacturers have made the cleaning process very simple in this smoker grill. Basically, there are 2 types of dirt that a user deals with while smoking. Firstly the grease and oil for which, as mentioned earlier, the design of this smoker is done in such a way that all the grease and oil drains out of the system into a bucket. Secondly, there is pellet ash, for which the users are provided with an easy access to the burn pot and there is also a trap door with the help of which the unit can be cleaned without getting into the messy grease and ashes. There is also a knob which you can pull to easily empty all the ash on the can.
