It’s equipped with the ash and hopper cleanout as well as a warming rack, side shelf, and Smart Smoke Technology. Besides the SmokePro SG, this pellet grill is the only other model that comes with Camp Chef’s Slide and Grill feature that allows you to transition seamlessly from open flame grilling to indirect barbecuing.

The PK-360, with 360 square inches of cooking space, this rust free, cast aluminum charcoal grill is durable and easy to use. Four-way venting means it's easy to set up for two zone cooking with more control than single vent Kamado grills. It is much easier to set up for 2-zone cooking than any round kamado. Beautifully designed and completely portable. Meathead says it is his preferrred grill.
In between the legs of this giant pellet grill is the nice additional feature in the form of a solid and reasonably sized steel shelf. While this may not be a make or break pellet grill feature, but it is something you will appreciate if you are always looking for where to place your grilling tools during and in between BBQ sessions. Everything from an extra bag of pellets, to your seasoning products, to temperature probes can be tossed on the bottom shelf.

With its user-friendly controls, large hopper & in-built pellet dispenser, even heat & smoke distribution, plus easy cleaning features, the SmokePro LUX is simply a delight to have. Add its whopping 875 square inches of grilling space and it becomes almost impossible to walk away from the grill. However, we cannot ignore the lack of the slide and grill technology that is present in its fellow SG & SGX Camp Chef high-end grills.
The Z Grills Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker comes with Smart Smoke Technology, which lets you set and forget your grilling. It accurately sets and maintains the desired temperature using an automated electric feed system, heating your unit from 180 degrees F to 450 degrees F. We’ve gotten used to smokers taking around 30-40 minutes to heat up, but with this unit, it took only 20 minutes for the temperature to settle in!
It’s time for a Woodwind Pellet Grill Review! I’ve been cooking on my Woodwind for over 2 months now and thought it was time to give you guys an in-depth look at the newest pellet smoker in the Camp Chef line-up. You all know I’m proudly sponsored by Camp Chef because after using their products side by side with my other pellet grills, I knew I had found a brand I was eager to share with my readers and felt confident promoting. Camp Chef sent me the Woodwind to try out and to review and they specifically asked me to be completely honest-the good the bad, all of it. So here goes!
I absolutely love the new Woodwind pellet grill. The new design with the thicker legs make this so sturdy, and I love having the caster wheels make it easy to move out of the garage to grill on my driveway. Arrived in perfect condition without any problems. I was up and smoking meat in no time! The Sear Box takes it to another level. Thanks Camp Chef for such an awesome smoker!
So after some research I felt like I had two choices. I could either spend $1800 on a new Traeger Timberline and double down on Traeger (hoping like crazy they fixed the heat issue) or spend literally half the money and get the sure thing. And by the way, if you feel like you absolutely Must have wifi to monitor, just buy a Woodwind and an iGrill 2 (wifi enabled) and you'll still save $800!
If you’re looking for a cheaper charcoal smoking experience, go for a charcoal or a bullet smoker. If you’re looking for everyday cooking, you’d be better off with a griddle or a gas smoker. But if you really want to get the best of all of them, dedicate your life to grilling of all sorts and if you are not afraid to spend a little more, then pellet smokers are definitely for you.
Before anything else, we will discuss what we found to be the best feature of the SmokePro SG – its grilling area. Offered in the form of an upper rack area of 382 square in and lower rack area of 429 square in, the SmokePro SG has a massive 811 square inches of grilling space. This number is matched only by its counterparts the LUX & SGX Camp Chef pellet grills, and surpassed by the SmokePro XXL. But, that is not the only part worth mentioning about this pellet grill. You know how an extra grilling rack can sometimes be more of a nuisance than a blessing by either, getting in the way, being hard to reach, or only performing a solitary function like just warming? Well, that is not something you will go through with the SmokePro SG.
Enhance your back patio cookout with the revolutionary new SmokePro SG pellet grill featuring Slide and Grill Technology. Switch seamlessly between Indirect and Direct Flame mode to achieve 2 delicious flavor profiles all on 1 grill. Slow cook your favorite cut of beef or slide the grill knob and toss a few burgers on for some direct wood-fired grilling. The new SmokePro SG features a taller cook chamber with additional rack space as well as a large capacity hopper. The SmokePro SG comes with Camp Chefs patented Ash Cleanout System, stable temperature regulation, and dual meat probes, making it the only pellet grill you need to achieve wood-fired flavor.
Second on my priority list- the ash clean out and hopper clean out features. I use my pellet grills 4-5 times a week (sometimes more) and that means I spend quite a bit of time maintaining and cleaning my grills. Having the ability to pull a lever and clean out the remaining ash in the firepot without disassembling the entire unit is such a fantastic benefit. I still break the grill down to vacuum out excess ash in the body of the grill once a month or so, but I used to be doing that every other week. So, that one feature has cut my cleaning time in half. I love it. The hopper clean out feature is less crucial, but still great to have available. Basically, if your hopper is full of mesquite pellets because you just did a really bold steak but you want to swap pellets out for something more mild, like an apple or hickory, you can just open a little trap door and empty the hopper. Then it’s simply refilling the hopper with whatever type of pellets you want to use next. This is just an example of Camp Chef thinking through the grill from the perspective of a regular user. Great feature!

Most people recommend the Green Mountain Grills smoker for its affordability, despite its plethora of features including Open Flame Technology, which ensures that meats are thoroughly cooked. But what impressed us the most was its Sense-Mate feature. For a budget pick, we were surprised to see that it had some of the most advanced technologies that even the most high-end products use. There’s no denying that you’ll get more than what it’s priced at!

While the Green Mountain Grills Davy Crockett Pellet Grill is compatible with most iOS and Android devices, I want to stress, check the compatibility of your device with the grill before purchasing because it would suck to buy this grill only to find out that this feature is not compatible. Also, if you do not plan on using the grill on some elevated surface, the legs are not tall so the grill sits close to the ground. Regardless, this is a GREAT smoker: your meat will come out tender and juicy with that authentic BBQ taste we all love! Neither of these cons affects the quality of your BBQ and both can be worked around.

The Smart Smoke technology is one of the most convenient and easy to use features on the grill.  It contains a dual LED temperature readout that keeps the heat at a constant temperature.  This means you have more time for socializing and can sit back and relax.  The temperature ranges from 160 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.  The grill uses a pellet feeder system that burns slowly to add intense flavor to your food.  It also uses an electric auto-start ignition that requires the grill be plugged into a standard 120v outlet.
As a general rule pellet grills don’t produce heavy smoke regardless of brand. For many people this is a feature. It is easy to have too much smoke. If you want more smoke, get a charcoal grill with wood chunks for flavor. But I happen to like the balance of smoke flavor. Things to check if having problems are pellets, airflow, & proper temperature control. There are other possibilities, but those are the big ones. So far my unit has worked as advertised. The sear box allows a proper reverse sear which allows for more even cooking & a great crust.
4. Temperatures were constantly all over the place. For example, on 70-80 degree days I learned to set my controller at 180 if I wanted to cook at 225-230. It was not uncommon to see temperature swings of +/- 30 degrees. Some Traeger users will tell you "yeah but did you play with the p-settings?" Why? Why would I want to have to constantly adjust a setting to make it hold a temp within +/- 5 degrees. Let's be honest. Most people want to set it and forget it. I fall into that category. This particular problem was so frustrating I went and bought an igrill 2 to monitor the internal smoker temp. As a note to this, I also bought 3 different brand controllers to try and remedy this problem with no success. Beyond frustrating!!
In a word, yes. In a second word, absolutely. For the third and forth, without hesitation. I’ve already got quite a collection of grills going on at my house, but this grill is keeping a permanent spot on my patio. There is just something about a grill that feels designed with the user in mind. The features that are included with this grill surpass any pellet grill I’ve used on the market so far. You can smoke, roast, bake, grill, and more and you can do it with the push of a button. I gotta be honest though, as a mom… those dishwasher safe grates sealed the deal. Pellet smokers can be used as a charcoal grill by adding the lit charcoal into the charcoal tray. Some of the best pellet smokers allow users to attach a propane tank to the stove to convert them into a gas grill or a kitchen oven. With a flat-top accessory, it can even be used as a griddle. A pellet smoker is an all-in-one solution for the hardened grill masters.
Most pellet smokers aren't so good at searing. Once again the clever folks at Camp Chef address this pellet predicament with an optional LP gas sear burner that can be added onto current Camp Chef SmokePro pellet grills by removing the right side shelf and using the existing hardware to mount the burner. This baby gets HOT! The 16,000 BTU burner range is 480° F Low to 900° F High - fantastic for reverse seared steaks. Cook the steaks low and slow in the smoker at 225° F until the meat probe signals the internal temp is about 110° F, then slap them onto the sear box to finish. Flip like you've never flipped before and don't walk away because it won't be there long before a beautiful brown crust forms and the interior meat climbs to the delicious Chef's Temp range of 130° to 135° F. If you have a grill that hits high searing temps, this option that runs a couple hundred bucks is unnecessary, but if you don't - Click here to get your crazy hot Sear Box!

Really Easy to Clean: This unit an ingenious clean out design. This design allows the grease and oil that drip from the meat to drain out into a dedicated drip pan. You can easily remove, empty and clean this drip pan within a few minutes. Pellet smokers typically get a build up of ash. With this unit, all we had to was just need to pull a button located on the right side of the smoker. The ash is released into an external bucket which is easily removed and we just had to tip it into the bin. No more removing grates and sweeping or vacuuming out your grill here.
