This isn't our first pellet grill - what we were attracted to about this one - is the ease of clean-up with the trap door cleanout. Our first pellet grill you had to remove the Grill rack, grease tray and firebox cover - empty the ashes with a spoon and then put it all back together - even though we loved the food that came out of it - we dreaded using it. Now we just pull the trap door - empty the ash cup and cook all over again. My wife has pretty much took this new grill over now - she says she can't burn anything in it and the kids think she is a master bbq chef now. The hopper is equipped with a drain to empty pellets if the grill will be stored for a long time or to change to a different wood. The drain chute is identical to the grease drain chute on the opposite side and one can hang a bucket on the chute to catch the pellets. The chute is opened via a pull out knob. Although there is a sliding vertical tab to hold the knob in place it cannot be effectively locked and easily popped open every time we removed the cover, sending pellets all over the deck. The problem was exacerbated by the tight fitting cover which was not designed to accommodate the large, optional Sear Box. We ended up taping the knob shut.
Due to having such features and being the best Lousiana Grills Product, the Louisiana Grills LG Pellet Grill 1100 could not escape our vigilant gaze when we did our research. However, it had some shortcomings, mainly due to its build and price that did not allow it to make it into our pellet smoker review. Regardless, we could compare it with some of our products that it had tied with. But as always, we could only choose the top 10 products for this review and this had to go. If an efficient smoker that can do multiple things is what you’re after, then there’s no need to look further. This could just be your top choice! Larry, The Camp Chef works like your home oven, it swings back and forth between 15-25 degrees above and below your set temperature. It operates on an average temperature rather than an exact temperature. Looks like yours is swinging quite a bit more than usual but this is very contingent upon the outside temperature also. What is the temperature control knob set on? In my tests, the temperature swings do not affect the final result.

Since wood chips are by-products of carpentry and woodwork, they are not only inexpensive but are also helpful for the environment since you’re using up all the parts of a tree. Because I like to learn from my mistakes I decided to go with the Camp Chef Woodwind grill with Searbox and I couldn't be more pleased!
